Anyone who bakes knows that kneading the dough can be a pain. Thankfully we have Kitchen Stand Mixers. The hands-down Icon of these is of course KitchenAid. Originally designed in the first part of the 20th century for industrial use by the Hobart company the model H was a hulking beast able to mix up to 80 quarts of dough. It wasn’t until 1937 when Hobart released the model K that the kitchen mixer began to gain its iconic status. As its popularity grew so did its competition. Notable in the early days of competition was Sunbeam which made a model of stand mixer to directly compete with KitchenAid’s models. Today’s market though is robust with brands such as KitchenAid, Cuisinart, Hamilton-Beech, Sunbeam, and Acuma. And yes there are cheap Chinese knockoffs that you can purchase that might last you a year or two. But that is why TekEons has spent the time to review and compare various kitchen stand mixers so you don’t have to waste money on a junk mixer.
With that being said the TekEons pick is by far the KitchenAid Artisan Series 5-Quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixer – KSM150PSER model. It comes in 22 colors but Candy Red, Cobalt Blue, Matcha, and Majestic Yellow are some of the most popular colors. Although this model can cost more than your average small kitchen appliance, the durability and longevity of this brand make it a 10 to 15 year investment. Many of the accessories and attachments allow for this and other models to go beyond just mixing dough. There are many options for making multiple types of pasta, cutting and peeling vegetables, juicing, food grinding, cheese graters, and of course everyone’s favorite ice cream! Note that not all attachments fit every model. If you are considering a certain type of attachment be sure to check with the manufacturer to see if it will work with your model before purchasing. It is also worth mentioning that KitchenAid also makes an artisan mini series 3.5 quart mixer, Classic Series 4.5 quart mixers, and a larger Professional 600 Series 6 quart mixer. If you need something larger than 6 quart KitchenAid also makes models for commercial use with sizes of 7 and 8 quart.
Because TekEons encompasses reviews and comparisons for so many types of technologies we can’t review and compare every single brand and model of kitchen stand mixer. So we welcome your feedback and experiences. You can fill out the form at the bottom of the page to share your input with us.
